### About this course

A planned shutdown is an intended stoppage of all or a part of a facility to allow access for essential maintenance. It is an end-to-end controlled process, aimed at compressing the agreed work scope safely into the minimum amount of time, utilising different areas or units of the workforce. Often a planned shutdown requires a number of outsourced contractors.

Successful shutdown management requires sound project management skills, supported by an integrated project team who are competent in the different shutdown principles and best practices.

Often a lack of focus on schedule compression during shutdowns causes major challenges. This course will provide learners with the necessary guidelines and best practice principles on how to best plan, manage and close out a successful shutdown of an asset, a component of an asset or a facility.
