Our Asset Management Improvement Planning (AMIP) assessment gives you a detailed understanding of your AM maturity. It is an excellent indicator of priorities, indicating where your organisation needs to invest to ensure that your AM capabilities, performance and resources are aligned and able to meet your consumers’ needs.

Pragma’s AMIP framework provides a structured environment where we help you define your ideal AM state, assess your current state and identify the gaps between the two. The assessment results inform your strategic asset management plan (SAMP), where we help you set priorities and targets to achieve your goal.

The AMIP framework is based on over 30 years of Pragma’s cumulative Asset Management experience and expertise—working with some of the top companies in the world. The AMIP framework is broken down into twenty Key Performance Areas or KPAs. These cover the full body of asset management practice. The key performance areas are aligned with the Global Forum for Maintenance and Asset Management’s 40 subjects and ISO 55000.

Each of the key performance areas is divided into 170 best practices, which in turn are divided into approximately 3800 verification points. Verification points are objective and unambiguous statements describing asset management practices within the organisation.

Combining 20 key performance areas, best practices, and verification points provides a detailed, complete, and repeatable assessment tool aligned to global benchmarks.

Pragma assessors really understand the dynamics of your specific industry and will give an unbiased assessment of your business’s maturity. They can assist in prioritising and planning actions to bridge gaps and achieve improvement objectives. Pragma’s extensive experience helps you define effective strategies and plans that result in measurable performance improvement.

### How else will you benefit from an AMIP assessment?

- You’ll get an analytical, independent and objective analysis of the current state of your organisation’s AM.

- Internally, you’ll be aligned and have consensus about your current AM maturity level and goals.

- The prioritising of your improvement actions will be based on your AM Policy and in support of your corporate business strategy.

- Performance measures ensure quantifiable performance improvement opportunities and potential savings.

- Potential obstacles are identified and can be managed to avoid disruptions during project execution.

- Your budget planning requirements for the short to medium term will be clear.

- Different plants in a multi-site environment can be compared and aligned to reach a common end state.

- Progress on your maturity growth can be measured year on year with follow-ups.

- Recommended improvement actions will be prioritised and staggered over a two- to three-year period.

### When should you consider an AMIP assessment?

- Team members have different opinions about how good your asset management is.

- You’re not sure what you need to do to conform to ISO 55001 certification requirements.

- Your asset management needs a lot of work but you don’t know where to start.

- You have a good maintenance system but you’re not sure whether your asset management practices and processes are up to scratch.

- You’re trying your best to do proper asset management but you’re not getting the expected results.

- You’re doing well but there are some concerns about the sustainability of your current asset management practices.

- You struggle to get support from top management or other stakeholders for asset management initiatives.

### How does it work?

**Assess**
The assessment involves an evaluation of requested material, an on-site tour and interviews with role players and the verification of the information provided during interviews. Our engineers use our own proprietary software tool, Assessor, to perform and record the assessment scoring. Unlike one-dimensional assessments, Assessor measures an organisation’s asset management maturity using two quadrants, namely the Best Practice Maturity Level and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). All role players partake in the consensus mapping (best practices and KPI verification points) and scoring.

**Feedback report**
We prepare a thorough report based on information gathered during the assessment phase and give feedback on the gaps between your current and ideal AM states. The report includes benchmark comparisons with industry or organisational peers.

### What happens next?

If you’ve ever worked with consultants, you would know that the best research or most well-considered strategy is of absolutely no value unless you’re able to follow through. With almost three decades of experience, Pragma has developed a suite of solutions that support the execution of best practice asset management services. We can further assist with the implementation of the strategy and improvement plan, providing expert advice as unforeseen challenges arise and ensuring that you stay focused and reach your goals.

**Plan**
An AM strategy and plan are developed with priorities and time frames to achieve the set goals.

**Improve**
Scorecards and AM plans are set in motion and evaluated year on year so that progress can be monitored and adjustments can be made where required.

### Own a custom asset management roadmap for measurable, sustainable improvement

An AMIP assessment delivers more than insights — it gives you a clear, data-driven asset management roadmap you can execute with confidence. This roadmap translates your maturity results into a prioritised, sequenced plan that shows exactly where to focus to improve performance, reduce risk, and optimise maintenance costs. Each action is grounded in measurable evidence, aligned with ISO 55001 principles, and tied to the KPAs that matter most for your asset-intensive operations. With a structured roadmap to guide decision-making and track progress over time, your organisation can close maturity gaps faster, justify investment, and achieve sustainable, long-term asset management improvement.
